Up in the hills above Lahaina lays a lovely property called Ho’oilo House, a quiet, breezy, luxury Bed and Breakfast with six suites, an enticing pool and a Balinese feel, overlooking the Pacific and the island of Lanai across the channel. Luxe!
Lush gardens, sweeping palm trees, shady massive saucers pouring water into the pool, a cedar scent in the room, Balinese day beds, no fine touches spared. I love the little things like a magnifying glass on the desk with a letter opener, a card that reads “Using Aerosol Sunscreen? Please apply outside.” Binoculars, a coffee machine, books on the island. It’s most relaxing. It’s actually seductive inside. I may find it hard to tear away.
This is the little stream with Koi that leads to my door on the right. There are so many subtle touches not just in the gardening but also the little things you find scattered around. Most impressed by the number of books on Hawaii from travel tomes and guides to history and culture. I could spend my whole time reading here. What a blessing to be at Ho’oilo House, but what a curse the spell checker gives me each time I try to type its name! HA!!
